Functional Mechanism of RNA Interference Technology: A Review
The RNA interference (RNAi) mechanism suppresses the expression of homologous genes when catalytically triggered by dsRNA. The ever-growing list of potential applications of RNAi has contributed to the rapid growth of this technique and to the understanding of its biology. The RNAi technology has not only provided us with a powerful molecular tool to study the functions of genes and manipulation of their expression but also has realised expectations about its applications in the areas of medicines and crop improvement.
