Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma Manifesting as Compressive Myelopathy: Extremely Rare Presentation with Review of Literature
The authors report an unusual case of isolated vertebral involvement by locally spreading follicular thyroid carcinoma which presented with signs of spinal cord compression. The patient did not report any thyroid related problems, though on clinical examination a small nodule was identified. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) demonstrated cervical cord compression with destruction of C7 vertebrae. Corpectomy of C7 was done. Histopathology showed involvement of vertebrae by extensively spreading follicular thyroid carcinoma.
