Biography

Dr. Baker earned her B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Virginia at Wise and her M.S., with an emphasis in reproduction, from Old Dominion University. After completing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Wright State University, she was appointed to the faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she taught and conducted research in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department and also served as assistant to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Baker worked in the field of infertility. She was a member of the team credited with the first birth by in vitro fertilization in Oklahoma and was responsible for the first andrology laboratory to receive accreditation from the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Baker is certified as a high complexity laboratory director by the American Board of Bio analysts and licensed as a medical laboratory director by the state of Nevada. She is a Active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, including serving as a legislative monitor; inspector for the College of American Pathologists’ Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program; membership in the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science and the American Association of Bio-analysis; clinical representative for the ASRM-supported multidisciplinary committee studying donor disclosure; co-chair, Xytex Annual Reproductive Symposium.

Research Interest

Dr. Baker research interests focuses on investigations in reproductive microbiology with a focus on sexually transmitted infections in the gamete/embryo donor population,policy issues in assisted reproductive technology (ART), including regulation of ART laboratories and Education in reproductive laboratory science.
